Adrian Belew’s six minute intro to David Bowie’s “Station to Station” on tour in 1978 sounds modern today. Those of you under 45 can only imagine how it sounded then.

Gotta say, the “choo-choo” keyboard cracks me up and sounds anything but modern, and one of Adrian’s signature sounds in this is clearly a train whistle — but I LOVE a good six-string squall, and this one’s epic. It’s also amazing to hear how much further and more finessed Adrian took this by 1982’s Lone Rhino and, of course, the previous year’s Discipline. Thanks for posting.
