What info would you like to see in an interview with a modern guitarist? What would you like to know about their history, process, techniques, gear, etc.?
Who would you like to see interviewed?
Please comment here or on the Guitar Moderne Facebook page.
Okay, here’s another chap…Bill Walker. I’ve seen a bunch of cool looping stuff he does on YouTube, mostly on lap steel but also standard 6 string. Other than his performances though, I can’t find much else about him.
Great choice – he has a brother Rick who is involved in percussive looping. I will see what I can do
Like Matt, I’d like to say thanks for this website: such a fresh air in the guitar world !
To answer your question: Yes, of course, Interviews would be great !
But IMO, it would be even greater to not only interview the “stars” of the “genre” (..but it’s more of a state of mind than anything else, isn’t it ?) but also less known artists who can be as interesting as Fennesz & co.
I mean, I like Fennez, Oren Ambarchi etc.. but I’ve already read all their interviews and always crave to discover new guys, with new approaches and way of thinking.. Plus it would fit the “one of the kind” editorial line of this website. 🙂
In the same idea, some sort of catalogue of guitarists would be great also. Maybe, with the possibilty for guitarists to subscribe themselves (with some kind of moderation from yourself of course.. at least to verify that they fit what this site is about).
That would be an easy way for fans to discover new music and for artists to get to know & inspire each other. Maybe a cool community or collaborations will arise from this. 🙂 (I, myself, try to use the guitar in new ways & I can tell you I’d love to be able to discover & interact with “collegues” in an easy way. 🙂 )
Great Comment. You are dead right and I plan to cover many guitarists who are unknown but reflect a high standard of creativity and originality on the instrument. I would hope you would “like” the Guitar Moderne Facebook page. That is where I am hoping this community will come together and post their own posts and comments, like Looper’s Delight. Keep checking back.
I was actually thinking of Looper’s Delight when I was writing about the community stuff. 🙂
I’ve already “liked” the FB page… but I’ll do it also with my “artist” page.
And speaking of posting links, I recently found some gems on YouTube and Soundcloud that I’ll share on your wall.
Keep up the good work ! 😉
Firstly, gotta say this is a great site. I’d love to see anything on Fennesz, Oren Ambarchi, Novella ( I know you posted an expand version of her GP interview).
Thanks for weighing in Matt. I would love to interview Fennesz and Oren. I will put them on the To Do list
